Thank you for visiting Wannawafel, our family run, small business founded in 2009 here in Victoria. Renaat and Krista are keeping the dream alive with the help of their student/kids, Arno and Dana, their friendly staff and the customers.

It all started with an idea, of course, a custom built waffle cart set up in the Victoria Inner Harbour with a cute little store to follow that same year. Soon after, expansion was unavoidable, it became our passion, demanding all of our attention. For Renaat, the best way to approach this was to travel with his son Arno and the waffle cart to Toronto. They successfully made it all the way through CBC Dragons' Den Show back in 2010, looking for professional help. The show generated a lot of interest in Canada and worldwide. The expectations were high, the sharks were circling and what we got out of the show was the exposure, but no dragon however. It was definitely worth the trip, a great story, and we would do it again. Picking through all the noise and living up to the expectations has been the challenge, they call it the Dragons'Den effect.

The ingredients to make this type of business work are personality, foot traffic, the weather, consistency and commitment, they will all contribute to your success, our waffles do the rest. The original Victoria cart is still humming in spring and summer, she is set up down at the beautiful Inner Harbour, at festivals and local markets. Social Media has helped the business tremendously, word of mouth even more, four summers long now. The store works just great in combination with the cart, a mobile, heavenly smelling billboard. This way our customers can enjoy our waffles all year long. A great combo, loved by many.

We are now mainly focussing on organic growth, fixed locations in BC and Alberta, small footprint and high traffic hubs. For other provinces we are looking for area developers over time. The international market is waiting for our concept just like you are, perfection takes time, and we are looking into ways to expand and reach out to all of you. We are very proud of what we have created, very thankful where we are today, still family owned and operated.
